The books that I read when I’m angry, sad, feeling nostalgic, or when I’m trying to get out of a reading slump. The books that I fall back on and read over and over and over again.
I love my fallback books dearly. Each one takes me back to the first time I read it, each tells a story or has characters that resonates with me.
But it’s more than that, it’s seeking comfort from old friends.
Everyone has fallback books.
Books with crinkled spines and slightly stained pages. Well-loved books.
I have so many that I couldn’t possibly list them all!
The Harry Potter series by JK Rowling, the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor, the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo, the Narnia Chronicles by CS Lewis, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, Stardust by Neil Gaiman, the Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater…
And I’m bound to accumulate more.
So, do you have any fallback books? Any novels that make you feel warm and fuzzy like Christmas?
Get reading! Sweet Things…
